Promethean, in partnership with the University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning, has developed the Colorado Turnaround School Program, a dynamic professional development experience that combines the best of educator-focused professional learning and innovative educational technology systems.
Our program is custom-designed to target the unique needs and challenges that turnaround schools experience as they work to increase academic achievement in students.
The Colorado Turnaround School Leaders Program is built on the belief that schools can be transformed through the community building efforts of both instructional educators and school leadership.
Our team works closely with:
- Current or aspiring Instructional Coaches
- Assistant Principals
- District level/Charter Management Organization (CMO) Support Staff
During a four-day institute, participants build background knowledge through collaborative experiences:
- Instructional leadership
- Highly effective professional development
- Building communities of practice,
- Job-embedded professional development structures
- Coaching research, instructional frameworks
- Educational technology integration
- Introduction to the UF Lastinger Coaching Model.
Participants submit certification videos and accompanying documentation to demonstrate competency. Upon successful program completion, educators will participate in a Learning Showcase and receive a Promethean/UF Turnaround School Leaders Certificate.
The goal of the Colorado Turnaround School Leaders Program is to support school leaders as they develop their skills in providing actionable feedback data on instructional practice that will effectively improve student achievement. Participants engage in structured leadership development activities and coaching/mentoring that build their capacities in facilitating long-term, school-wide improvements.
Promethean and the University of Florida partners with individual school districts to provide sessions within their facilities (example: school, professional development center, etc.). Sessions are held in central locations unless circumstances prevent this, where another public sector facility will be secured. The final 2 follow-up sessions may be facilitated through video conferencing in a collaborative decision by Promethean, the University of Florida and the school district(s).
